Unsolicited Mail - How to control your addressed mail
(Mail Preference Service)

(PLEASE NOTE WE CAN NOT CONTROL YOUR MAIL WITHOUT RECEIVING A SIGNED COPY OF YOUR FORM BY POST)

With Irish consumers generating millions of euros of postal sales per year, it's fair to say the majority welcome the information and special offers they receive by post. However, it's also understandable why some people might take a different view.

Direct Mail's popularity as a means to communicate has increased, with more companies and charities staying in touch by post (in fact 70% of the population prefer companies to communicate with them via post).

  • For companies, Direct Mail is a good way to tell customers and prospects about new products, services and special offers that can save them money.

  • For charities, Direct Mail is an economical way to raise awareness and much needed support.

  • And for consumers, Direct Mail is a convenient way to shop from home...to take their time and make good decisions without pressure, and to get the products they want and need - often at less than they'd pay in shops.

To control the personalised Direct Mail you receive, there are some simple steps you can take:
The Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is a free service that can remove your name from many Direct Mailing lists. You can also use the service to register a previous occupants' name at your current address.

Simply complete the online form available below on this page, PRINT it off and SIGN it, and POST it to the IDMA at 8 Upper Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.  PLEASE NOTE WE CAN NOT ACTIVATE YOU REQUEST WITHOUT RECEIVING A SIGNED COPY OF THIS ONLINE FORM.  PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO POST IT TO US!

You can also choose to fill in a form by hand and sign it and post it off to the IDMA.  Click here to download this MPS form.

We need to receive a signed copy of either form to verify your request and activate your details on the MPS database.

It can take up to four months before your registration with the MPS becomes fully effective, although you should see a reduction in the amount of unsolicited mail you receive in this period.  A registration with the MPS lasts five years.
