About IDMA

The IDMA was founded by a group of 12 dedicated Direct Marketing practitioners in 1988.

The Irish Direct Marketing Association, IDMA, offers 4 membership types:

(a) Full Corporate Membership

(b) Associate Membership

(c) “Small Business” Membership

(d) Charity Membership

Full Corporate Membership costs €650 per year; These members can exercise their right to vote at the IDMA Annual General Meeting and may participate on the IDMA Board.

Dublin Chamber of Commerce members, who have never joined IDMA previously, can avail of a special Introductory offer of €500.

Associate Membership is available to companies who have been operating for less than two years and is charged at €350 per year.  They are not able to use the IDMA logo on their stationary or website.

New in 2012 is a special “Small Business” Membership rate of €350 which is available to companies with 4 employees or less.  As this type of member, you are entitled to 1 ticket to events at the IDMA rate, subsidized training seminars, use of the IDMA logo, free advice on regulatory affairs issues, free job advertising on our website and much more listed on the members benefits page of www.idma.ie.  You may also purchase the Mail Preference Service "MPS" database (updated monthly, available on request, value €750) for an additional €300 per year.

Charities also may avail of the €350 rate regardless of the number of years they have been in operation.

The primary aims of the association are, in general terms:

  1. To advise the public and businesses alike that if a business displays the IDMA logo it is bound to uphold both the letter and spirit of our codes of practice as well as the code of practice of the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland.
  2. To promote best practice of Direct Marketing among our members and to advise them how to achieve this via our Guideline series.
  3. To protect the industry and maintain an active brief on all pending legislation that affects it.
  4. To offer a first “port of call” for consumers who have either questions or complaints about Direct Marketing.
  5. And finally, to provide a strong educational platform for our membership through a programme of informative seminars, events and courses.
